Took a big leap, this month and decided to incorporate more structured training / coaching into my running game. I have some lofty #Goals to crush and knew reaching outside my comfort zone was the only way to smash it.
First on the list – hill repeats. I love to hate these, but the only way to increase speed is to incorporate these bad boys.
Want to keep your legs healthy and strong – I mean who doesn’t want strong legs? Love what others hate ❤ Hill repeats are your friends.

…waiting in the rain to start the Niagara Fall’s Women’s Half Marathon . ..
Naturally my competitive nature kicked in. Perhaps my biggest race weakness is that I always start out too fast. My first 6 KM — which were flat and beautiful — looped passed the falls twice. Here I am with the 2 Hour pace bunny. I tried to tell myself it was too fast and that I should pull back, but I was passing people, having a blast and feeling good.
…Don’t worry that feeling didn’t last…
I did my best to go balls to the wall in the final KM, which was definitely the toughest km for me.
My spirit animal was at KM 19 – a Unicorn handing out Jelly beans and Jube Jubes 🙂
Celebrating Finish Lines Not Finish Times
Happy Sunday y’all! While I was a busy bee this weekend, I am off with my sister to visit family, so this weeks post is short but sweet!
Fuel of the week: One of the dishes that I love to make for family is my super sweet treat of grilled apricots this is easy and I couldn’t wait to share…mmm grilled apricots.
I Stuffed them with sweetened mascarpone and plopped a blackberry on top, drizzled with honey and stuck them under my broiler. Seriously, that easy and mmm tastey goodness.
Move of the week: I’ve been out and about adventuring every day, and I crave that muscle challenge from a quick focused workout that keeps me energized, my posture in line, and my bum lifted. Great 2 for 1 work-out…Plie squats with overhead press (AMRAP)
Step feet wider than hip width apart, with toes rotated out slightly about 45 degrees, a dumbbell in each hand. Bend knees, tracking them over toes and hold plie position, making sure to keep knees rotated out over toes, not buckling in. Bring right arm in front of body and the left arm behind your left hip, turning upper body slightly to the left. Then, press both arms up overhead. That’s one rep. Repeat.

Move of the week ~ lovin’ me some shoulder taps! incorporated these into my #homebootcamp 40 shoulder taps for 3 sets
- Get into a plank position
- Take your arm & “tap” your opposite shoulder.
- Make sure to keep your core & legs tight.

Fuel of the week ~ I’ve been craving tabouleh salad for weeks and courtesy of my co-worker who gave me her recipe to try out. In 35 min I had a super fuel filled post work-out meal.
1 cup bulgur wheat ( i use bob’s red mill)
2 cups boiling water
1/2 sp. salt
|1/3 cup coconut oil
1/4 cup lemon juice
2 cloves garlic
1 cup sliced baby tomatoes
method: Pour boiling water over bulgur wheat and salt. Cover with dish cloth for at least 30 minutes. Chop parsley, 1/2 cucumber and add to the bulgur wheat. Blend together the coconut oil, lemon juice and garlic and Enjoy!

Labor Day is one of my favorite long weekends for savoring the last days of summer!
Okayyyy so don’t tell my beloved Ontario [highbush select] eggplant but the mini finger eggplant [Lebanese varieties] may have just trumped my bell-shaped love. Anyone else ever have this kind? SO GOOD!! But there’s also a bunch of interesting facts about them! For example, did you know that they have nicotine in them? Wowsers! no worries, you’d have to eat like 20lbs to equal one cigarette. Anywaaaays
ate this out on the deck & enjoyed the warm weather what was your food highlight of the day?
||All you need is 1 eggplant thinly sliced…(I coat mine with coconut oil and grill for more of a crunch)
1 cup bulgar wheat (Bobs Red mill)
5 table spoons extra virgin olive oil
cherry tomatoes and
1 table spoon of red wine vinegar

Hi Friends: Started my day early with an Ab circuit workout by the river amazing way to start the day!
FABOOSH! I refueled with these home made fig newtons that I made earlier in the week. I’ve been doing some recipe testing this week, and home made fig newtons was part of that testing. Yum! A match made in heaven..No more packaged newtons for this girl!
A super post work-out snack
All you need is some dried fruit and a food processor. Basically.

Well hellooo to you wonderful coffee a little post work-out pick me up.
I’m relaxing in my garden, sunshine on my face…reminiscing over one of the most grueling workouts to date. I was a sweaty mess by the end but it was totally worth it.
I decided that climbing the Petit Pitons in St. Lucia would be a cool experience! and it was.
Look @ that smile..Ha only 20 mins into a 3000ft climb. ~If it wasn’t for physics and law enforcement I would be unstoppable ~
Well what goes up must come down and after 4 hours of hiking my legs were like Jell-O. Did I mention that my fuel for the day was crème soda, rice crispy treats and a wee smidge of water! You’ll never guess what happened after I got down…puke city..so long crème soda
If I ever get the opportunity to climb it again..I would fuel it with my favourite overnight blueberry chia oats (directions found here) What is your favourite way to dress up your oatmeal?
